Is it swimsuit season already? Why does it always seem like summer takes so long to get here but comes so fast at the same time? The girls are ready for some fun in the sun, which means new swim suits! We noticed a bunch of new My Life swimsuits for 18” dolls at Walmart (and none at our local Target 😫), so the girls are ready for a swim fashion show! Here we review swim from Target, Walmart and American Girl.
My Life Swim Sets
On a recent visit, we spotted 5 different swimming suits at our local Walmart. Most of the swimming suits came with a cute cover up as well. Read on for details and pics of the swimsuits on our dolls.
We ended up getting the fringe swimsuit and the tankini with rainbow coverup for $9.97 each. The quality is decent considering the brand and fit of the suits is good. The rainbow coverup fits, but is quite snug on our AG dolls. Here’s Ivy and Melody in their cute new swimsuits.
Our Generation Swimsuits
We didn’t find swimsuits at our local Target, but there are currently four Our Generation swimsuits available online. These swimsuits retail for $12.99 and are probably better bang for your buck than the Walmart swimsuits because they each come with several accessories. Overall, I prefer some of the Walmart designs to these. Also, I feel like Target has had some of these designs for several years and are due for a little update.
American Girl Brand Swimsuits
There’s currently only a few swimsuits available on American Girl’s website, including two from their Team USA line and two from Joss’s collection. But all are super cute.
Both of the Team USA swimsuits are super cute, and of course we expect good quality from AG. I don’t love that the Beach Volleyball sun visor comes down super low on the doll’s eyes, but at least it’s going to do it’s job in a match I guess. The swim cap in the Swim Set is so cute, although I imagine it might be a struggle to put on (if you have this set comment below to let us know). It reminds me of Chrissa’s (GOTY 2009) cute swim set. Each retail for $32.
Of course Girl of the Year 2020 and avid surfer, Joss runs around in her swimsuit all the time. Her swimsuit is currently one of my favorites out there, but you can only purchase it new with Joss for $110. Joss is also a really cute doll, so totally worth it in my opinion. 😉
Joss’s Surf & Swim Set is also available separately for $28 and includes a 2 piece swim suit with a wetsuit top and sandals.
